Thank you very much to our age coordinators and coaches who volunteered for the 2009 soccer season. Your dedication and enthusiasm is greatly appreciated.

“The Volunteer’s Creed”

A hundred years from now
It will not matter
What my bank account was,
The sort of house I lived in,
Or the kind of car I drove.
But the world may be different
Because I was important
In the life of a young person.

PGYSA and Volunteers

PGYSA is always looking for volunteers to help out with coaching, asst. coaching, managing, equipment sorting, equipment pick-up nights, phoning people and participating on tournament committees. We all lead busy lives, but volunteers are a necessary part of PGYSA. Whether you can spare two hours a week or two hours a month, it is all greatly appreciated. Our children are the ones who benefit!

What are some benefits of volunteering?

Volunteering can have a meaningful and positive impact on our community. Most people find themselves in need at some point in their lives. Today, we may be the person with time to help; tomorrow, we may be the recipients of someone else's volunteer effort. There are a lot of positive rewards that come from volunteering, which include, gaining work experience, making a difference in someone’s life, improvement of health, meeting new people and the most importantly, an overall fun experience.

Volunteering for students…

For youth, volunteering brings a new sense of confidence. It enables young people to develop new communication and social skills and assist with career building skills.
Contact your school regarding possible CAP hours.

The Volunteer's Creed

To laugh often and love much;
....to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children;
....to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends;
....to appreciate beauty;
....to find the best in others;
....to give of one's self;
....to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
....to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation;
....to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived - this is to have succeeded.

- Ralph Waldo Emerson
