August 2022 - Keenan Beer

Name: Keenan Beer

Birth Year: 2008

Writeup: Keenan is our player of the month for August. A dedicated Goalkeeper, Keenan has grown into one of our leading Club goalkeepers. Working 4-5 days per week in both field sessions and in our Club Goalkeeper program, Keenan is setting a standard for the position. Recently participating in the BC Summer Games, Keenan played an integral role for the Zone 8 team. Calm and confident on the ball, fearless, and maintaining a commanding presence, Keenan has built a solid foundation. With the work ethics Keenan brings in every session, we look forward to seeing him continue to grow as a person and a player.

November 2022 - Daxton Russell

Name: Daxton Russell

Birth Year: 2012

Writeup: Daxton is our player of the month for November. Since he started playing the game at 6, Daxton has been participating in our Club league and in our Prospects program. Leading the junior group at our recent performance testing session, his hard work is starting to show. With a calm and consistent demeanor, Daxton maintains a positive mindset, is very coachable, and focuses on his technique development. Along with the other Prospects players, we track Daxton's output with PlayerMaker. This allows us to monitor him throughout the week and provide more focused feedback. We are excited to continue working with Daxton and watching him continue to grow over the next few years.  

April 2022 - Canek Tol

Name: Andres Canek Tol

Birth Year: 2008

Writeup: 'Canek' is our player of the month for April. Having been a member of our Club for about 4 years, Canek has transitioned into a dedicated Competitive player. With the added training, preparation, and work demand that comes with reaching one's goals, Canek has shown immense growth in focus on game details. Transitioning into a Fullback, Canek has a gift in his ability to effectively time his movement and anticipate ball travel many steps ahead. A very agile and explosive player that has an exquisite touch on the ball, we look forward to watching Canek continue to grow.

July 2022 - Jacob McInnes

Name: Jacob McInnes

Birth Year: 2006

Writeup: Jacob is our Player of the Month for July 2022. Jacob rejoined our Club this past spring and since then, continues to set a standard for work ethic and professionalism. His consistent attendance at training sessions is paying off with constant improvements in his on ball abilities and off-ball movement. Jacob recently attended his first competition with the Club and showed a work ethic and maturity many times his senior. Jacob looks to have a bright future playing at the Collegiate level. We look forward to helping him refine his game and transition to the next level.

December 2021 - Amneet Toor

Name: Amneet Toor
Birth Year: 2005

What her coaches say: “Amneet is our December Player of the Month for her recent successes within our Club and in her supplementary sport of Track & Field. On pitch 4-6 days each week participating in personal training, team training and match play, Amneet is achieving personal bests on the pitch and the track. A very dedicated and focussed player, Amneet acquires thousands of touches on the ball each week. Integrating our sport science, strength & conditioning, and testing/tracking into her on-ball work, Amneet is quickly becoming a leading player at our Club. With the skillset and physical attributes she maintains, we are confident she will soon play an integral role at the next level”

January 2022 - Quinn Friesen

Name: Quinn Friesen

Birth Year: 2004

What his coaches say: "Quinn is our January Player of the Month. For many years Quinn participated in both Biathlon and Soccer. Respected as a dedicated dual athlete, Quinn decided to commit himself full-time to soccer and has been training 5-6 days a week for the past year. In that period of time, Quinn has really refined his movement on and off the ball, his tactical knowledge, and his control in tight spaces. Quinn works hard at his academics and continues to dedicate himself to playing at the collegiate level. We thank Quinn for his dedication to the game, to the Club, and will support him every step of the way."

March 2022 - Gurkurandeep Bhangu

Name: Gurkurandeep Bhangu

Birth Year: 2004

What his coaches say: “’Karan’ is our player of the month for March. Having joined our Club only a few seasons ago, he has quickly turned into one of our Club’s shining stars. Known for his speed and agility on the park, he is also a quiet leader that shows by example. His professionalism shines daily, as he welcomes all players to train and play. Watching him adjust his intensity and performance level to the player he is working with, we all hope Karan takes his leadership skillset into the coaching world. A Club leader in sprint testing, Karan will play an integral role in the right position at the next level”

June 2021 - Marko Furlan

Name: Marko Furlan
Birth Year:  2006
What His Coaches Say: Marko is our June IMPACT/WFC BMO Academy player of the month. Over the past three years Marko has consistently grown and evolved as a young professional and as a player. Pushing himself to reach the small goals that we set daily, Marko has taken a methodical approach in reaching his goals. Allowing himself the time to grown and mature, Marko's foundational Technical ability has made him a very reliable and consistent central player. As a student of the game, Marko studies the game through conversation, reading articles, and modeling the professional game. We thank Marko for his leadership and look forward to supporting him along his soccer journey.

July 2021 - Avery Bjorn

Name: Avery Bjorn
Birth Year: 2006
What her coaches say: “Avery has evolved immensely as a player over the past 18 months. Although quiet, she makes her impact when on the field of play. A very powerful athlete, Avery is hard to knock off the ball when in possession and difficult to track when getting forward into advanced positions. Avery’s mental strength and focus allows her to find her performance zone every time she is on the pitch. This produces very consistent performance outputs and continues to set personal bests during physical testing. We are proud of Avery and look forward to supporting her in reaching her long term goals”

What his coaches say: “Owen has been a member of the Prince George Whitecaps FC program for many seasons and continues growing daily within the IMPACT/WFC Academy program. An avid viewer of any professional match, Owen is beyond his years as a student of the game. Taking advantage of our five-pillar development program, Owen’s movement skill, mental strength, and comfort on the ball is advancing quickly and now positions him as a leader within our program. With the ability to read and anticipate increasingly complex game tactics, Owen is on track to train with our advanced senior group. We look forward to seeing him continue to develop over the next few years”

April 2021 - Xavier Rocha

Name: Xavier Rocha

What his coaches say: Xavier is our April player of the month for his work ethic and mental strength. Having journeyed through a development phase over the past year where he grew both physically and cognitively, Xavier stayed true to the teachings and took many challenges head-on. As we enter our Spring Academy program, Xavier has grown into a leader within our Academy group and is quickly becoming a true young professional. His reliability, ability to self-reflect, use of sport performance psychology techniques, and dedication to daily work on the ball, has quickly moved him up the performance ladder. We thank Xavier for his performance achievements and look forward to his growth during the outdoor season.

May 2021 - Yul Jung

What his coaches say: “At nine years of age, Yul is our up-and-coming player of the month for April. Taking the bus with his family to training no matter the weather, Yul consistently trains to one day reach his dream and play alongside his favourite player – Son Heung-Min. Part of a group of younger players that have been part of our High-Performance Academy for the past few years, Yul is already training with players 3-4 years his senior. His control of the ball, self-discipline, ability to read and process his environment, and movement skill, all come together to produce a high standard of performance in ball control and manipulation. We look forward to supporting Yul along the next steps of his journey”

June 2021 - Chloe English

Name: Chloe English
Birth Year: 2005
What her coaches say: “Chloe dedicated herself to the sport and to the Club Academy a few years ago and the hard work is paying off. A very powerful runner that is strong in possession, Chloe focusses on every detail during training. Her movement has become much more efficient and her understanding of angles support and body preparation has resulted in a player that is much more dynamic in attack. Chloe is very hard to knock off the ball and has the ability to shoot from anywhere within her touch radius. With a few years remaining until she graduates from our Academy, Chloe’s growth mindset is building the resiliency needed to make a successful transition to the collegiate level”

January 2021 - Madelyn Bauman

Name: Madelyn Bauman
Birth Year: 2010

What her coaches Say: Having trained in our High-Performance IMPACT/WFC BMO Academy since she was nine years old, Madelyn is an up-and-coming player and one to keep an eye on. Retaining a growth mindset and level of dedication equal with athletes many years her senior, Madelyn is a very focussed student of the game. The standout element of her skillset, is the ability to stay calm under pressure and secure possession of the ball in any situation. Additionally, Madelyn maintains exceptional balance and coordination that allows her to make corrections on-demand.

February 2021 - Sarvin Saini

Name: Sarvin Saini
Birth Year: 2010

What his coaches say: “A high-level wrestler when not training in our club, Sarvin has made big strides over the past year. With his dedication and the support of his parents, Sarvin takes every opportunity to get time on the ball. Although game play has been restricted, we are using this time to work on Sarvin’s body alignment and his movement skill on and off the ball. A very coachable young player, we look forward to tracking his growth and development over the next few years”

March 2021 - Victoria Schinkel

Name: Victoria Schinkel

Birth Year: 2004

What her coaches say: Victoria is our February player of the month for her leadership, professionalism, and work ethic. Always ensuring that every player, no matter the age, feels welcome, her leadership will hopefully one day transition into coaching. For the past three years she has been putting substantial work into her on-field and off-field workouts. The results are starting to show with her evaluations within the Technical and Physical Pillars increasing significantly over the past year. With a goal to one day play at College or University, she is well on her way to making this dream become reality.
